Restoration of a wrecked supercar chassis that took 7 years
After seven years this chassis is back on it's wheels. From here it’s straight into the engine to see will it run. For now though enjoy the learning I had to employ to recreate a Lotus Esprit S2 rolling chassis.

Diy electroplating..... The most frustrating process in the history of man.... starts off as a glass jar n a bit of vinegar..n a 12 volt charger.... Before long your garage turns into a meth lab to plate 3 rusty bolts.... Which even when finished r still heavily pitted but at least shiny:)

If memory serves, the 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act saw me designing and adding guards and cut-outs on all our machine tools then while doing my toolmakers apprenticeship at Brown and Sharpe Machine Tools in Plymouth, UK. The company was making m/c tools in the 1800s and we still had pre-1900 gear cutters in daily use.

Just a suggestion… when the body is smooth, straight, and restored, could molds be produced to allow new replacement bodies to be produced? It would be great if we could build esprits from scratch, if the molds were available. Companies like Aerocraft Fiberglass and Design has done work like this.

Aim for the sunset! I've been to the ditch AND the ditch at sunset. Trust me, you don't want to go there. As long as the windscreen (windshield over here) is clean both inside & out, sun visor is functional and sunglasses handy, the sunset option is the better choice.

Will you be fitting spring pads between spring and spring base on the lower control arm? If none are available, you could make your own from HDPE (the stuff ski and snowboard base is made out of) by cutting the shape out of HDPE sheet, fit to spring collar, heat it up till it gets soft and then put the spring on top of it and push down to get the correct shape. I enjoy your videos tremendously!

This is such a fun video. I have so so many questions though Like what kinda metal (s) are you using to do the repairs? Where do you get them? What are the key tools you're using? How do you know where the screw holes of new cuts of metal should be exactly?? Where did you learn to weld? Where did you learn to do stuff like at 9:06? What even is that? How do you cut the rusted bits so precisely? Is there a tool for this? I'm literally dumb.

I really appreciate the way you make your videos using stop motion. when I watched your first video I was hypnotised and hooked for life. I subscribed and liked the video after 5min of watching. I wanted to share a useless comment on me starting my first ever restomod (restoration, rolling restoration) on a cg125. And once getting to the electroplating process it gave me an excuse to share that i guess ill be taking advantage of this process and idea you mentioned and shared for my project. Always loved watching your therapeutic videos especially for the process of doing as much of everything on your own. Cheers!
